The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal is expensive, but also scores in almost all areas: the design is simple and chic, the gaming headset is valuable. The invisible microphone is not a high -flyer who is once again first class the sound for which the Danes are known. Thanks to functions such as ANC and transparency mode, the technology is even suitable as over-ear headphones in everyday life.

Gaming headsets are part of the repertoire of every gamer, whether hobby gamblers or professional eSporters. The focus is often on price and performance, the large brands of the scene that have been inspiring with their periphery for years: Razer, Steelseries, Roccat, Corsair, Logitech or Hyperx. Especially when it comes to headsets, however, more and more well -known manufacturers are involved who otherwise have little to do with gaming. This includes the traditional company Bang & Olufsen, or B&O for short. The Danes are known for high -quality, optically unusual and above all expensive products. With the B&O Beoplay Portal, a gaming headset from a proud 400 euros is available. Computer BILD tested the high-priced audio technology.

Complete list: The best gaming headsets
class design and value
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal is largely made of plastic, with parts of the listening shell and the top of the ironing covered with synthetic leather. The same applies to the thick and comfortable ear cups. Meanwhile, the upholstery on the bracket is made of fabric. The pressure is subtly strong here. With just 280 grams of weight, even longer gaming sessions are no problem. The cables can all be removed. Working about the position of the micros does not need to make users: As with the Sony Pulse 3D, the microphone is in the housing, an additional arm in front of the mouth is not necessary. But how good does the recording sound?
microphone with air up
Many headsets fail regardless of the price range due to the built -in microphones. Bang & Olufsen also no trees out, although the quality is generally okay. Overall, the recording quality of the invisible micros is good, but the sound for teammates over radio and cables seems rather dull and slightly robotic. Background noises, such as the crackling of a chip bag, are partially captured and transferred to teammates. After all, you never have to think about the position of the micros in front of your mouth.
a real board
Bang & Olufsen is known for strong prices and striking designs, but above all for good sound! And you can also hear these expertise at the Beoplay Portal. The sound looks slightly tinny and offers only a few boobs in shooters without real bass, but playback is clear and very pleasant. Spatial location - often a decisive advantage in games to find the position of the opponent - works great. The enemy in "Call of Duty: Vanguard" one floor higher is located as quickly and precisely as the approaching opponent at "Gran Turismo 7".
full of only with the app
Thanks to Bluetooth, the portal can be connected to the smartphone and used in everyday life with music, podcasts & Co. Via the "Bang & Olufsen" app (for Android and iOS), the Danes donate software updates and access to equalizers to adapt heights or bass personal preferences. In addition to your own presets, transparency mode and active noise suppression (Active NOISE CANCELING, short ANC) can be set. A great feature that is usually used for good in and over-ear headphones. B&O clearly shows that the expensive beoplay portal is also suitable for music when traveling. All settings in the app are only possible after registration. There is no other option than the use of the app, especially for changes to ANC & Co.
many connections, persistent battery
The Beoplay portal can be connected to PC, consoles, smartphones via Bluetooth, USB or analogous to the jack cable. For Microsoft's Xbox and Sony PlayStation there are various designs and corresponding USB A dongle that guarantee wireless connection. The battery lasts for a long time: the headset of B&O in the Playstation version came to almost 23 hours of play under full load and with ANC. Fine: Even during the cargo, the headset can continue to be used, thanks to a long cable you do not have to frame yourself unnecessarily or lay extensions through half the apartment. The control on the headset is a bit fiddly.
